CONASENSE Brainstorming Workshop 2026

fortiss, Munich, Germany and online · 18 September 2026 · 10:30–16:30 CEST

WorkshopHybrid

The annual CONASENSE brainstorming workshop set the direction of the network for 2027. It combined a morning of status, publications and workstreams with an afternoon of international partner talks (SESEI, Africa Quantum Consortium, LEPIC, CPQD and the Brazil 6G Project) and a session on the CONASENSE spheres in India and Brazil. It was hosted by the CONASENSE Board with fortiss GmbH and CTIF Global Capsule, with participants from Europe, Brazil and India.

Key outcomes

  • The four former working groups were replaced by lighter, interest-based workstreams: Edge-to-Cloud, AI-native networking, Quantum and Cybersecurity, with sustainability, human-centricity and experimentation as cross-cutting themes
  • Four joint white papers were proposed: an energy-aware IoT-to-Edge-to-Cloud continuum, human-centric 6G, quantum (as an invited paper to QITJ) and AI-defined network management
  • Live polls showed the strongest interest in AI-native networking and in project matchmaking as a new event type
  • The Quantum Information Technologies Journal announced no article fee for its first two years, and IEEE and ACM partnerships are under discussion
  • The new EU-INDIA-6G-BRIDGE project, anchored in CONASENSE, strengthens the India and Brazil spheres
  • The next brainstorming workshop will be face to face in Aalborg, Denmark, in September 2027
